The Shade mobile application allows users to determine their personal tolerance to sunlight and ultraviolet (UV) exposure. It pairs with the Shade sensor, the first UV sensor that offers the precision of laboratory-grade scientific equipment for measuring the UV index.

The Shade UV sensor automatically monitors UV exposure, while the app permits users to keep track of symptoms such as sunburn, skin burn, skin rash, joint pain, fatigue, brain freeze, kidney issues, muscle pain, nausea, sun poisoning, among others, and rate their health and disease activity.

Through the app, users can set and manage their daily UV exposure levels. Serving as a supportive tool, the Shade app assists users in managing their individual UV tolerance to confidently engage in outdoor activities.

Both the Shade sensor and app have undergone testing with individuals affected by skin cancer, melanoma, lupus, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), discoid lupus, and other autoimmune diseases.
